Working via Jopp, how does that work exactly?

Jopp is an intermediary. We help our partners to attract, find and retain young talent like yourself! That is why you can speak of a triangular relationship between you (Employee), Jopp (Employment agency) and the partner (Hirer) where you will be working. This is called secondment or seconding.

Employment contract

An employment contract contains agreements between an employee and employer, whereby the employee is employed by the employer and performs work for which the employee receives wages from the employer. If you start working for one of our partners via Jopp, you will receive a temporary employment contract from Jopp. This temporary employment contract contains agreements between the employee (you), employer (Jopp) and the partner (Hirer).

ABU collective labor agreement

The temporary employment contract is based on the collective labor agreement of the Algemene Bond Uitzendondernemingen (ABU), abbreviated to ABU CLA. The ABU CLA contains agreements about wages, allowances, working hours, overtime and pension, as well as your rights and obligations. Please find the most recent version of the CLA here.

Important to know: Equal work = equal pay. According to the ABU CLA, you are entitled to the hirer's remuneration from day 1. This means that you will receive the same salary as your colleagues with the same work who are employed by the hirer directly.

The ABU CLA has the phase system. The phase on which your temporary employment contract is based depends on the number of weeks that you work or have worked via Jopp. The phase system is divided into three phases:

  • Phase A: 52 weeks (fixed or indefinite period)
  • Phase B: Maximum 3 years and 6 contracts (fixed time)
  • Phase C: indefinite period

Temporary employment contract

In the temporary employment contract, the employee (you) and employer (Jopp) make written agreements about the position, working hours, salary and the form of the temporary employment contract. The temporary employment contract takes effect at the time when the employee (you) actually commences the agreed work.

Phase A

You are working in phase A as long as you have not worked via Jopp for more than 52 weeks. A phase A temporary employment contract with agency clause is standard in phase A. This is a temporary employment contract for an indefinite period. You can also opt for a phase A temporary employment contract to which the temporary employment clause does not apply. This is a temporary employment contract for a definite period. The agency clause means that the temporary employment contract between the employee (you) and employer (Jopp) ends when the hirer terminates the assignment. This also means that you as an employee can indicate at any time that you would like to stop, provided you let your employer (Jopp) know at least one day in advance.

You may work for a maximum of 52 weeks in phase A, whereby the weekly count stops when the interruption between two temporary employment contracts is longer than six months.

Phase B

After phase A, you move on to phase B. The standard in phase B is a temporary employment contract without a temporary employment clause for a definite period. You can also opt for a phase B temporary employment contract without an agency clause for an indefinite period. In phase B, a maximum of 6 temporary employment contracts are concluded in 3 years.

Phase C

After 3 years in phase B, or when the 6th temporary employment contract has ended, you will continue in phase C. The standard in phase C is a temporary employment contract for an indefinite period.

Holiday allowance, vacation days and pension

As an employee, you are entitled to 8.33% holiday allowance of the actual wage. You also save up vacation days. For a full working month, you are entitled to 16.66 hours of holiday hours or a proportional part thereof if a full working month has not been worked. Jopp reserves 10.87% of your actual wages for this. In addition, you build up a pension on the hours you work. You start building up a pension in the Basic Scheme after 8 weeks of work. You then build up your pension in the Basic Scheme for up to 52 weeks, after which you automatically move on to the Plus Scheme pension accrual. All these reserves and the accumulation of your credit can be found on your payslip, which you receive every week from us together with your salary.
